What started as a fun project for the day of reorganizing the pantry and cleaning out the fridge turned into my own at-home version of Chopped. A few specialty ingredient and a dash of creativity and a new recipe is born!
Sweet Coated Smoked Turkey
Posted by Samantha Moniz on
Smoking a whole turkey in July?! Why wait until the holidays to have all the delicious carved turkey for turkey sandwiches? My point exactly! Not only did I get to hone in my holiday cooking skills and perfect this turkey a few months in advance but we got enjoy a turkey outside of the holiday craze, heavy mash potatoes and pumpkin pies. The turkey sings on its own and our daily turkey sandwiches have never been more crave-able.
Santa Maria Tri-Tip

Tri-tip is the perfect cut of meat for feeding the family. Not only does this 4 lb slab offer us 3-4 servings (Mat eats a ton!) but because of the unique shape, when the center is cooked to medium-rare the ends are medium-well. It’s a happy-medium for serving people with different preferences on their steak temperature. The rub and mop sauce bring a ton of flavor. I also love an excuse to cover something with chimichurri, it makes this cut of beef sing!
BBQ Pulled Pork Rolls

This is the happy accident of overflowing with pizza dough (I'm working on perfecting a dough recipe that I hope to share with you soon!). It's also an ideal recipe to tuck leftovers into. I bet you'll be smoking meats and grilling all weekend, save this recipe for Monday when you're looking to tuck leftover cheeses and cooked meats into something for an easy week night dinner. Grab yourself some store-bought pizza dough or use that trusty old recipe you've got stored away. This dish comes together quickly and is sure to please!
Shrimp Ceviche

There is nothing simpler and let's talk about FRESH. I love how bright this dish is. Full of flavor, a little kick from the jalapeño and a touch of sweetness from the mango. Is there anything else you could possibly want from a dish?! I think not!
